SUZY's Day Out: A Day In Vancouver
My name is Alyssa, the founder of the affordable fashion & life style blog Northern Class, basecamp Vancouver, BC. Today’s itinerary is full of fun activities and food indulgences in my hometown, Vancouver.
Start your morning off right with a hot creamy latte and a warm fresh buttered baked croissant from Small Victory which is located in my neck of the woods, Yaletown. This coffee shop will not just pull you in with the smell of fresh baked goods, but their decor is trendy and stylish. This is my favourite café, where every week I start my Saturday!
Once you are finished your fresh baked goods, grab your latte and make your way to the Yaletown harbour, just steps away from Small Victory. From here you will jump on a water taxi, which will take you to your next location. These water taxis are a fun way to travel around to different parts of Vancouver! I always take the water taxis whenever I make my way to one of my favorite brunch spots which are located on Granville Island (which is where we are heading).
Hop off your water taxi and make your way over to Edible Canada for a delicious brunch and if you are like me, a coffee lover, another coffee! This is truly one of my top favorite brunch spots, with its amazing menu, location and the fact they promote local produce as well as meat, they always have ways to keep me coming back for more. I would recommend their eggs benny! Their hollandaise sauce will have you begging for more with its smoky flavour.
Next make your way back to Coal Harbour were you will catch a free shuttle, which is located by the Convention Center. We are now headed to the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Here you will wonder through the great large trees of BC and experience new heights by walking around each tree top. Here you will face and concur any fear of heights you may have to get to the tree walk by walking on top of the 140 metres long suspension Bridge. This attraction is a must see especially on a beautiful sunny day in Vancouver! It’s Bucket List worthy!
Now that your adrenaline has kicked into gear it’s time to grab yourself a cocktail and some dinner! Make your way through our beautiful historic Gastown and right in the heart of it all, you will find the Flying Pig.
If you like home style cooking and comfort food then this is the place to eat. They have comfort food style dishes like crispy brussel sprouts to truffles macaroni! For a main dish I always suggest the Mount Lehman roasted half chicken with buttermilk mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. The Flying Pig is my go to spot for both breakfast and brunch!
Here is where the night ends! I hope you enjoyed these go to spots and activities as much as I do. If you are in Vancouver or planning a visit, be sure to check out my blog www.northernclass.com for more Vancouver recommendations. Until next time happy travels!
