Meet: Illustrator Angie

Meet Angie Ordonez (@the_xo_studio) a self-taught fashion illustrator. Angie decided to pick up a paint brush one day and never went back, starting The XO Studio. Angie sketches and paints beautiful creations so we wanted to catch up with Angie and chat about her illustrations!

What inspired you to start illustrating?

Since I was a child I’ve been passionate about art especially fashion.  It all started with the fact that I wanted to be a ballerina when I was younger. But since I can’t be a ballerina anymore, I can now draw them! That’s also when I started getting interested by fashion illustration.

Do your drawings ever inspire what you wear?

I like colourful clothes and that’s why most of my sketches have a lot of colors. But I don’t get inspired by what I wear, I get inspired by what I want to wear!

What was the last illustration you did?

I illustrated some dresses from Dior Spring couture 2012.  It was for a private client who loves haute couture.

Where do you hope to go with your illustrations?

I want to go far, very far. For now I want to be known as the best fashion illustrator and artist in Montreal. My sketches are original and they are far from perfect. For me, when it comes to art the word perfection shouldn’t exist. The beauty of art is in the imperfections.
